The Midnight Club

The latest horror series from Mike Flanagan—the showrunner behind Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor—is scaring up screams. Adapted from Christopher Pike’s novel of the same name, the show follows a group of young hospice patients who conspire to make contact with each other after death.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow

Fans of classic Halloween adventure movies like Hocus Pocus will be bewitched by The Curse of Bridge Hollow. The movie follows a father-daughter duo who unite to end a curse that brings their town’s Halloween decorations to life. 

The School for Good and Evil

This adaptation of Soman Chainani’s boarding school fantasy book series arrives October 19th. The movie is directed by Bridesmaids’ Paul Feig, and features a cast of heavy-hitters including Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Michelle Yeoh, Laurence Fishburne, and Patti LuPone.

Resident Evil

The 2002 first film in the Resident Evil franchise, arguably one of the most fun video game movie adaptations ever, follows a woman with no memory as she navigates a mysterious subterranean lab filled with hordes of those infected by the T-virus. 

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

This anime series is a spinoff of the video game Cyberpunk 2077. The show will take viewers to Night City and follow a young kid who augments himself into an Edgerunner to survive. 

Men in Black 1, 2, and 3

All three Men in Black films have landed on Netflix. Join Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith) as they monitor alien activity across the planet—and make it look good.

Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3

All three Tobey-Maguire-starring Spider-Man movies have swung onto Netflix. They star Maguire as the titular webslinger, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, James Franco as Harry Osborn, and Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin.

The Sandman

The long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comics hits streaming August 5th. The series stars Gwendoline Christie, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jenna Coleman, Stephen Fry, Patton Oswalt, as well as Tom Sturridge as Dream.

Locke & Key Season 3

Locke & Key is Netflix’s adaptation of Joe Hill’s comic series. The third season, the show's last, will center around the family as they face their biggest threat yet. Arrives August 10th.

The Age of Adaline

New to streaming: Blake Lively stars as Adaline, a woman who stops aging after an accident at age 29. Trying to avoid being studied by scientists, Adaline commits to spending her life on the run. But when she falls in love, her rules are tested. Arrives on streaming August 1st.

Stranger Things

Get ready to run up that hill (again)! The two extra-long episodes that comprise the second volume of the fourth season of Stranger Things are now on Netflix.

The Flash 

 The eighth season of The CW’s adaptation of The Flash has sprinted onto streaming.

The Sea Beast

This animated Netflix Original has sailed onto streaming. The adventure movie follows a young girl who sneaks onto a ship that hunts sea monsters, but befriends the very beasts the sailors are supposed to kill.

First Kill

This Netflix Original series is based on a short story by V.E. Schwab. The show, which is also executive-produced and co-written by Schwab, follows a teenage vampire and vampire hunter who fall for each other.

Spiderhead

In this Netflix Original movie based on a George Saunders short story, prisoners can reduce their sentence by consenting to be experimented on. 

But warden Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth) pushes his prisoners to the limit with dangerous drugs that influence their emotions. 

Umbrella Academy Season 3

The third season of this Netflix Original is now available. Based on the comic series by Gerard Way, the show follows a group of estranged, super-powered siblings brought together by their father’s death. Umbrella Academy stars Elliott Page, Tom Hopper, Mary J. Blige, and others.

Vampire in the Garden

This anime series  follows a friendship between a human girl and a vampire queen as they attempt to break the constraints put on their respective species. 

Love Death + Robots (Volume 2)

This Emmy Award-winning animated anthology includes stories from a variety of genres, from science fiction to comedy. Created by world-class animators, episodes explore alternate histories, killer robots, and post-apocalyptic landscapes.

Tomorrow

In this Korean drama, a man accidentally trapped between the land of the living and the dead is forced to work as a grim reaper. 

Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood

This critically-acclaimed 2022 film from Richard Linklater uses the animation technique of rotoscoping, combined with home video footage from the 1960s, to explore the impact of the Apollo missions on the imaginations of children of the era. 

Russian Doll

Season 2 of the Emmy Award-winning time-loop series Russian Doll is here. What a concept!

The first season follows Nadia (Natasha Lyonnne), who is caught in a time loop that repeats her 36th birthday—coincidentally, the same day she dies.

Raising Dion

Season 2 of this series about Dion (Ja’Siah Young), a seven-year-old who manifests superpowers after the death of his father, is streaming now. In this series adapted from Dennis Liu’s graphic novel, Dion’s mother (Alisha Wainwright) must protect her son from forces who want to harness his abilities for nefarious means. 

Space Force

This workplace comedy follows the United States Space Force. Steve Carrell stars as General Naird, who reluctantly heads up the space exploration branch of the military.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

This 2019 fantasy-horror film was produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by André Øvredal. It’s a fun and frightening film adaptation inspired by Alvin Schwartz’s cult short story anthology series of the same name.

Zone 414

In this 2021 cyberpunk film, a PI teams up with an AI to find a missing woman. Get lost in this sci-fi noir.

Colony/Tides

In this 2021 sci-fi thriller, a female astronaut from Space Colony Kepler-209 must make an irrevocable call about the fate of humanity after an extinction-level event. 

Fast Color

Set in a drought-stricken dystopian America, this unconventional superhero film follows Ruth (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a woman with the ability to inadvertently cause earthquakes. When she’s tricked by undercover scientists intent on studying her seismic powers, Ruth and her family run from authorities. 

The Giver

This 2014 film is an adaptation of Lois Lowry’s acclaimed 1994 novel. It stars Jeff Bridges as ‘the Giver,’ an elder charged with protecting the memory of his post-apocalyptic society. When Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is selected to follow in the Giver’s footsteps, he learns the hidden truths about the tightly-controlled world he was raised in. 

The Witcher Season 2

 The long-awaited second season of The Witcher hitsNetflix December 17th, 2021. Based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, the series follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) as he tries to protect Princess Cirilla.    

Don't Look Up

This all-star Netflix Original movie follows astronomers Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Dr. Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) as they vainly attempt to warn politicians and the American public that an asteroid will destroy the Earth in six months. 

The Silent Sea

This South Korean sci-fi horror series follows  a group of astronauts tasked with entering an abandoned research facility on the moon to find clues to humanity’s survival. It also features Gong Yoo of Squid Game fame.

Cowboy Bebop

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the adored anime series about bounty hunters (human and otherwise) in 2071 debuted November 19th. 

Night Shift

This Netflix Original movie follows an L.A. chauffeur (Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jorge David Lendeborg Jr.), who realizes that his elite clients are actually the undead—and that he’s been pulled into their bloodthirsty politics.

Lucifer (Final Season)

Hilarious, heartwarming, and action-packed, the fan-favorite series following the escapades of the OG fallen angel and retired king of Hell is back with its final episodes. 

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

Toss a coin to your witcher! While Geralt fans wait for Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher series to drop on December 17, 2021, they can turn to this spinoff South-Korean animated film. 

The movie follows the adventures of Geralt’s friend, fellow witcher Vesemir.

The Walking Dead Season 10

The tenth season of The Walking Dead  has shambled onto Netflix. The series follows long-time main characters Michonne, Darryl, Carol—as well as newer additions to the crew—as they prepare to fight the Whisperers, a group of human survivors who wear the skin of walkers.

Sweet Tooth

This Netflix Original is based on Jeff Lemire’s comic book of the same name, and follows a young human-deer hybrid in a post-apocalyptic world. 

Wish Dragon

Wish Dragon follows a college student and a powerful dragon on an odyssey  through Shanghai.

Army of the Dead 

When a zombie apocalypse decimates Las Vegas, a group of opportunistic mercenaries decide to venture into the quarantine zone for a high-stakes heist. 

Jupiter's Legacy (Season 1)

Josh Duhamel stars in this action-packed drama about the children of superheroes struggling to live up to the heroic legacy of their parents. 

Based on the graphic novels written by Mark Miller and illustrated by Frank Quietly, this series is sure to delight fans of science fiction and family dramas. 

Castlevania (Season 4)

Blade

The newest entry to the Predator franchise! Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), Prey is set in Comanche Nation in the 17th century. It stars Amber Midthunder as a warrior who faces an unexpected extraterrestrial threat.

The Princess

This dark fantasy action movie stars Joey King as a princess determined to fight her way out of an unappealing engagement. 

Independence Day

 This 1996 alien invasion movie is a classic. Roland Emmerich’s bombastic hit features scientists, soldiers, and politicians as they come together to save humankind. 

John Dies At the End

This adaptation of Jason Pargin’s book of the same name has become a cult hit. The movie is a confounding, dizzying journey through low fantasy worlds, alternate dimensions, and secret conspiracies. 

The Last Days on Mars

Zombies! In! Space! Set in the near-future, this 2013 sci-fi horror movie follows the final hours of one crew’s stay on Mars, as the astronauts discover an organism on the Red Planet—and their mission spirals into chaos and violence. 

What We Do in the Shadows (TV series)

What We Do In the Shadows Season 4 has flown onto streaming. The hilarious reimagining of the 2014 movie of the same name follows a group of vampire roommates—and their human assistant, Guillermo—as they make their home in Staten Island.

Predator

The first in a franchise, this 1987 sci-fi horror classic stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers as rescue operatives sent to recover hostages being held in the jungle. But their mission is thwarted by a heat-seeking, highly-intelligent bipedal alien. Get to the chopper!

Motherland: Fort Salem

The third and final season of this queer supernatural series is here. Motherland is set in an alternate version of the United States in which witches can live freely following the Salem Accord. In fact, witches—and the powerful spells they weave through song—are essential to the U.S. Army.

Helix

This sci-fi pandemic drama takes place over two seasons. A team of researchers at an Arctic base discover that genetic testing done at the station has unexpected and volatile repercussions for humanity.

Looper

The third movie from director Rian Johnson (who later went on to write and direct a little-known movie called The Last Jedi), Looper is a twisty thriller about organized crime and time travel. 

In the future, hit men must travel to the past to avoid high-tech surveillance when they dispose of corpses. But this method pits assassins—called loopers—against older versions of themselves. 

Rick and Morty

Explore the multiverse with the cynical mad scientist Rick as he drags his teen grandson through inter-dimensional space portals, where misadventure and havoc always ensues.

Mother/Android

A Hulu Original movie, Mother/Android follows Georgia (Chloe Grace Moretz), who is days away from giving birth to her first child when an AI uprising causes her and her boyfriend (Algee Smith) to seek out unlikely, and dangerous, allies.

Y: The Last Man

After years of waiting, an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's Y: The Last Man comic book series is here. 

The story is set in a world in which everyone with a Y chromosome has suddenly died...except for one young man named Yorick and his pet monkey. 

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K

Patton Oswalt voices the megalomaniac supervillain M.O.D.O.K (Mental Organism Designed Only for  Killing) in this new animated series. After years of trying and failing to conquer the world, M.O.D.O.K has decided to set his sights a little lower. It’s time to conquer...the suburbs! 

Shadow in the Cloud

Chloë Grace Moretz stars in this action-packed fantasy horror film about a female WWII pilot tasked with delivering top-secret documents. But the mission takes a terrifying turn when an evil presence is discovered on board the B-17 Flying Fortress. 

Little Fish

 In this timely feature film, a global pandemic causing rapid memory loss threatens all human connections and relationships. Faced with the realities of Neuroinflammatory Affliction, a young couple struggles to fight off the disease and hold onto the precious memories they’ve shared. 

The Vigil

Steeped in ancient Jewish lore, this supernatural horror film takes place over the course of a single evening. The Peripheral

From the creators of Westworld comes a new series set in a sci-fi dystopia. The show stars Chloë Grace Moretz and is based on William Gibson’s book of the same name, which follows two people from across the world who are brought together by a crime that takes place in virtual reality. 

The Rings of Power

The long-awaited Amazon series set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, The Rings of Power explores the history of the Rings of Power, the fall of Númenor, and more events from the Second Age. 

How to Train Your Dragon

This beloved 2010 animated movie follows Hiccup, the gangly son of a Viking chieftain, as he attempts to do just what the title says—befriend an unwieldy young dragon, and earn his father’s approval along the way. 

My Best Friend's Exorcism

An adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s novel of the same name, My Best Friend’s Exorcism is an ‘80s-set movie about best friends Gretchen and Abby, and Gretchen’s potential possession after an LSD trip gone wrong. 

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Steven Spielberg’s 2001 movie centers around a regular human couple who adopt an android ‘child’ named David (Haley Joel Osment). 

7 Star Trek Movies

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989), and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) are all on streaming.

Sonic the Hedgehog

A Quiet Place II

This is the second movie in this post-apocalyptic thriller series about an Earth overrun by aliens with super-keen hearing arrives. The sequel follows the survivors of the Abbott family as they’re forced to leave their refuge, while also jumping back in  time to show the start of the alien invasion.

The first movie helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, Slither is a cult horror film set in small-town South Carolina. When extraterrestrial parasites invade the town, they incite body-horror filled chaos. The movie stars Firefly’s Nathan Fillion along with Elizabeth Banks, Gregg Henry, and Michael Rooker.

The Tomorrow War

Not to be confused with the long-awaited movie adaption of The Forever War, The Tomorrow War stars Chris Pratt as Dan Forester. In 2051, a group of time travelers from 2080 appear with a dire warning: in the future, humanity will be on the losing side of a war against extraterrestrials. Dan agrees to be drafted and sent to the future to fight alien invaders, hoping to save his daughter from having to live through the future conflict.

Only Lovers Left Alive

This gorgeous modern vampire story from director Jim Jarmusch follows eternal life partners Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton). 

An international exploration of vampiric ennui, the movie follows Eve’s attempts to help Adam remember the pleasures of undead life. 

Hellboy (2004)

This 2004 adaptation of the Dark Horse comic series stars Ron Perlman as the half-demon Anung Un Rama, also known as Hellboy, who teams up with the United States Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense to fight fascists and fabled monsters alike.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

The directorial debut from Hustlers director Lorene Scafaria, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World takes place ahead of the imminent impact of Matilda, an asteroid hurtling towards Earth. 

Penny (Keira Knightley) is desperate to get back to England from New York to see her family one last time, and Dodge (Steve Carrell) becomes her unlikely ally. This film hits streaming June 1st.

Warm Bodies (2013)

Science fiction and rom-com collide in this zombie love story. Originally released in 2013, the film takes place in a world overrun by the walking dead. When living human Julie meets zombie R, the two embark on an unusual relationship that could change the world. 

Breach

Bruce Willis stars in this 2020 interstellar adventure thriller. After a devastating plague decimates the world population, a select group of 300,000 survivors board a spaceship on route to a space colony called New Earth. Unbeknownst to the passengers, a malevolent stowaway is intent on destroying what is left of humanity. 

Hotel Artemis (2018)

Jodie Foster, Jeff Goldblum, and Sterling Knight star in this dystopian thriller set in 2028 Los Angeles. 

As the city of angels falls into riots and ruin, criminals flock to Hotel Artemis for much-needed medical care from a talented, high-tech nurse. But the 13-story hotel is quickly overwhelmed, forcing the Nurse to make some difficult and deadly decisions. 

Back to the Future trilogy

The 1985 classic featuring Marty McFly and Doc Brown, as well as its two sequels, is driving the DeLorean back to Amazon. The movies follow Marty's misadventures with time travel, through their many upbeat twists and turns. 

Bliss

Down on his luck, Greg becomes entranced by Isabel, a mysterious woman living on the streets. Though he initially dismisses her theory that their crumbling world is nothing but a computer simulation, Greg begins to see the world as she does. This complex sci-fi drama features a special appearance from none other than Bill Nye. 

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things

In this fantasy, Mark enjoys the consistency of his time loop, repeatedly living each identical day. But when he stumbles upon Margaret, living in the same loop as him, his well-ordered life is thrown out of balance. 

Together, the two teens try to create a single perfect day, as they fall head-over-heels for each other. Entirely caught up in their relationship, the two remain uncertain about how to escape their loops, or if they would even want to. This romance has a screenplay from The Magicians author Lev Grossman, and releases right before Valentine’s Day. 

Star Trek Beyond

This Justin Lin-directed Star Trek movie features the Enterprise crew tangling with the alien Krall and his fleet of ships. 

Kirk also grapples with his future as a captain, and Spock is torn between his loyalty to Uhura, the Vulcans, and Starfleet.
