Soon, the Amazon multi-season prequel television series debuting in September 2022 will transport all of us back to the fantastical and unforgettable world of Middle-earth. Then again, some of us never truly left.
In the meantime, I've consulted with the stars, and they've let me know which Lord of the Rings character fits with each zodiac sign.

Whether you're a feisty Aries or a sensitive Pisces, there's a member of the fellowship for you. So, which Lord of the Rings character are you based off your zodiac sign?
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Peregrin "Pippin" Took
Aries is the sign of the ram, and despite being known for their prominent horns, this star sign isn't exactly known for using their head.
Pippin is sometimes thoughtless with his actions, which falls in line with Aries' natural tendency toward impulsiveness. This fire sign is also prone to boredom, and, like Pippin, inactivity can lead to a bit of troublemaking...
While some may not enjoy the bold, fun-loving nature of this sign, there are some wonderful qualities besides this that can't be denied. Aries are optimistic and high-spirited, and there's no one in Middle-earth more cheerful that Pippin—and few as willing to pick themselves back up after a fall and keep going.
Rams are full of determination and courage, and whether it's escaping the Uruk-hai for the Fangorn Forest, pledging his allegiance to Boromir's father, Denethor, or subsequently saving Faramir's life, Pippin is the perfect exemplification of these attributes.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Aragorn II Elessar
Aragorn has a will like no other—seen when he challenges Sauron for control of the Palantir of Orthanc and boldly stands before the Army of the Dead. This indomitable will may also be referred to as a stubborn streak, the foundational trait of the sign of the bull.
An earth sign with a fixed quality, Tauruses represent the calm after the storm. This sign is known for being reliable, patient, and devoted. In the same way, Aragorn never runs from a fight, and is always there when he is needed, always finding some way to help his friends and his cause. A downside to this sign is their possessiveness, which can be seen in the instance where Aragorn is reluctant to leave behind his sword, Andúril, at the door of Edoras.
Tauruses are also known for their fondness for romance, and really, it's his relationship with Arwen that makes Aragorn so dreamy...
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Gandalf
Gandalf is one of the easiest signs to intuit out of this list. Gemini—the sign of the twin—is one of a dual nature. Gandalf at his core is a wizard of conflicting dimensions. While at times he can be deeply and openly affectionate to his companions, he can also be brusque and blunt in other moments. He is just as quick to laugh as he is to show his temper.
As a sign with a mutable quality, Geminis crave change. Who changes more than Gandalf, whose confrontation with the Balrog is the catalyst for his shift from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White?
And Gemini is ruled by air, an element which unites all other elements. No one else is quite as instrumental in bringing the fellowship together and uniting their goals than Gandalf.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Samwise Gamgee
Cancer is ruled by water, and as such is a sign of movement—though, like a creek, Cancers flow slow and steady. Having a Cancer around you means that they're going to push you, but they'll never leave you alone to deal with the consequences. That's a true friend; and who can deny that Samwise Gamgee is the best friend around?

This sign of the crab is incredibly emotional and loyal. Sam is especially eloquent in his heartfelt moments, which perhaps is the reason he comes off as more golden-hearted than the rest. He saves Frodo's life multiple times on their journey to destroy the One Ring, and his determination in completing their task and keeping his best friend safe is unerring.
On the flip side, Cancers are also be moody and suspicious, which can be seen in Sam's interactions with Gollum. However, his suspicions weren't unfounded...
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Gimli
Leos are represented by the lion, a fire sign denoted by a fixed quality. This means that their stubborn nature leans toward arrogance, and rather than just possessing a strong will, this can lead to inflexibility.
This attitude is mirrored in Gimli, especially pertaining to his early interactions with Legolas. In Tolkien's works, Dwarves and Elves have long held a grudge against each other, and Gimli doesn't enter into the fellowship with hopes of changing that. In fact, he enters primarily due to his suspicions over Legolas' involvement.
As lions are typically regal creatures, any perceived slight hits all the harder for Leos. This need to prove their superiority lends to a naturally competitive nature—something exemplified by Gimli's Orc-killing contest with Legolas at Isengard. And though they may be a prideful sign, they are full of good humor and energy. As such, Gimli is a force of comic relief in the film adaptations.

Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck
A counterpoint to Pippin's chaotic energy, Merry is a man of plans. This is a Virgo trait through and through. He's one of the more perceptive and knowledgable hobbits. In fact, he knows of the power of the One Ring even before he and his companions depart the Shire. Before their quest begins, it is Merry who organizes the ponies and equipment.

These earth signs are practical, analytical, and hard workers. In kind, Merry has a love of maps which greatly serves the fellowship for both planning paths and utilizing short cuts. Virgos also tend to have a do-it-myself attitude, unable to sit idly by while watching others pitch in.
This is mirrored in Merry as, after swearing fealty to Théoden, he rides off with Éowyn without permission to face off against the Witch-king of Angmar in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
Not to mention, Virgos have an abundant fondness for animals, and Merry is described as harboring a love of ponies.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Legolas
Libra is the sign of the scales, making them a sign often associated with judgment and justice. The judgment side of this coin means that they may be prone to holding a grudge—as seen with the uneasiness in the interactions between Legolas and Gimli in the beginning of the fellowship.
The justice side of this coin means that they are extremely fair-minded. In that vein, Legolas is not prone to jealousy, happy to give others their due when it is rightly earned. This is seen when Legolas is merely happy for Gimli after he wins the Orc-killing contest, praising him rather than belittling his accomplishments.
This air sign has a natural love of the outdoors, and in line with that, Legolas has a deep respect for nature. Libras are highly social and despise conformity—two attributes which are plain to see through Legolas' unexpected bond to Gimli.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Boromir
Both Scorpios and Boromir are often given a bad reputation, but there's more to them than what many see on the surface.
Above all else, Scorpios are brave and passionate. Similarly, Boromir is steadfast in his desire to lead and protect the people of Gondor. In this he is selfless, as Scorpios tend to be for the ones they care deeply for. Boromir is a valiant warrior with remarkable combat skills, attributes which many admire him for.
However, like the scorpion which represents this star sign, the drive to do what they feel they need to do can often lead Scorpios to sting those around them. Distrusting of Galadriel's power and desperate to wield the One Ring for the sake of Gondor, Boromir betrays the cause of the fellowship by asking Frodo for the One Ring and attempting to take it by force when persuasion fails.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Frodo Baggins
Sagittariuses are known for making big promises—and who has made a bigger promise than Frodo, the main Ring-bearer on the quest to Mount Doom?
Think of this fire sign not as something as raging as a wildfire, but as a gentle flame flickering in the hearth. The sign of the archer is gentle, generous, and idealistic, warm all around. Shy and sweet in nature, Frodo has his mind constantly on others. Though his best friend Sam follows him when he tries to set off for Mordor alone, he is determined to ensure that none are bound to the same dark fate as him.
This sign is also known for its compassion—something Frodo shows a great deal of toward Gollum, even when Sam regards the unfortunate creature with suspicion and distaste. Sagittariuses also have a natural love for travel and exploration, a fascination and curiosity which Frodo shares in regards to the world outside of the Shire.
Capricorn (December 23-January 19)
Galadriel
Beauty is something often associated with earth signs like Capricorn, and none are as beautiful as Galadriel, Lady of the Wood.
Represented by a sea-goat, this sign is also a bit of a know-it-all. It seems fitting for someone with the power of Galadriel, who not only possesses great personal wisdom, but can see into the future. Capricorns are also excellent communicators—as is Galadriel, as she can communicate psychically over great distances.
The most admirable traits of those born under this sign are their discipline and self-control. This is exemplified in Galadriel when she refuses Frodo's offer to bestow the One Ring upon her. She had the wisdom to know that such power would corrupt her good intentions, and the strength to deny the temptation.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Éowyn
Aquarius, ruled by the uplifting element of air, is a sign that is notably progressive and independent. Éowyn refuses to be shot down when she knows she's on the right path, as seen when she rides off to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields to slay the Witch-king of Angmar. And really, "I am no man"—what's more progressive than that?
This sign of the water-bearer is uncompromising and resentful of limitations placed upon them. Her refusal to stay behind when her uncle Théoden turns down her plea to ride into battle makes Éowyn one of the bravest, most interesting, and most remarkable characters in the story.
However, Aquariuses can get bogged down by the complications of emotions, which Éowyn gets a taste of when Aragorn fails to return her romantic feelings.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Arwen
Pisces are the heart of the zodiac, and no one represents them better than Arwen. This sign of the fish is gentle, wise, and compassionate. In line with this, Arwen is instrumental in fostering peace between Elves and Men.
While her love Aragorn is represented by Taurus in his fondness for romance, Arwen and her like-minded Pisces give everything they have to the pursuits of the heart. Arwen gives up her immortality to spend a lifetime with Aragorn. When Aragorn dies after 122 years of marriage, Arwen follows shortly after, succumbing to a broken heart.
