First written down and published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, variations of the story can be found throughout folklore. The one we're most familiar with is that of a beautiful young maiden whose evil stepmother tries to kill her, and who finds solace with seven kindly dwarfs until her handsome prince comes to save her.
There are too many rewrites and variations of the Snow White story to count, from non-European folk tales to the Disney movie. Now, with Disney doing a live-action remake of their beloved 1937 classic, starring Rachel Zegler in the title role, Snow White is back in the forefront of readers' imaginations. But there are so many other retellings out there, and we've compiled a list of nine for you to check out.
