When Ursula K. Le Guin passed away earlier this year, the world lost one of the most influential and beloved sci-fi and fantasy writers ever. Now, the author of the Earthsea series, The Left Hand of Darkness, and numerous other acclaimed works of fiction and nonfiction, is remembered in this first trailer for the documentary Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin. Check out the trailer for the upcoming film below!

io9 reports that director Arwen Curry spent nine years working on the documentary, and ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2006 to fund completion of the project.

The first trailer for the film features lots of shots of Le Guin talking about her craft and wandering the picturesque beaches of Oregon, a strand of kelp in hand. It also features interviews with Neil Gaiman — who gave Le Guin the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 National Book Awards — Margaret Atwood, and other acclaimed sci-fi and fantasy writers.

According to the documentary's website, Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin also features David Mitchell, Samuel R. Delany, Michael Chabon, Vonda N. McIntyre, Adrienne Maree Brown, China Miéville, Annalee Newitz, and Theodora Goss, in addition to Le Guin's family.

Since the website also reports that Curry filmed with Le Guin for nearly a decade, it sounds like the documentary stands to be a very intimate look at a literary icon.

Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin will premiere June 10th at the Sheffield Doc/Fest in Sheffield, U.K.
