At every San Diego Comic-Con, a slew of buzzed-about movie and TV trailers debut, and this year's event gave us a lot to look forward to. From highly anticipated trailers for DC superhero movies, to a totally unexpected addition to the Star Wars franchise, there was something for everyone this Comic-Con. Check out our favorite trailers from San Diego Comic-Con 2018 below!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

This reveal was one of the biggest surprises of Comic-Con 2018. The animated Clone Wars series originally ran from 2008-2014. Set between the events of Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the show followed Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other prominent figures in the Star Wars universe during the events of the deadly Clone Wars.

The series' six-season run ended suddenly in 2014, leaving fans without closure. But Disney announced at Comic-Con that they'll be releasing another 12 episodes of the popular animated show, to finally bring the series to the conclusion it deserves. Clone Wars will premiere on Disney’s new streaming service, which is expected to launch next year.

Doctor Who Season 11

Doctor Who Season 11 will bring lots of new and exciting adventures — and the very first female Doctor! After Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor was forced to regenerate in the 2017 Christmas special, Jodi Whittaker made her debut as the 13th Doctor. She will be joined in the new season by friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill), and Graham (Bradley Walsh).

The release of the highly-anticipated Season 11 trailer comes on the heels of of a shorter teaser that introduced each of the Doctor’s new friends. This latest trailer gives a sneak peek into some of the places and times to which Whittaker’s character will travel.

Aquaman

One of the most long-awaited trailers to premiere at this year's event, this Aquaman preview features Jason Momoa as the half-Atlantean superhero. Judging from the trailer, the movie will show us Aquaman's origins, and the struggle he faces when his half-brother Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) declares war on the surface world. Caught between land and the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, Aquaman fears he’s unfit to fulfill the role of king.

Following the wake (no pun intended) of Wonder Woman’s success, Aquaman looks like it will focus solely on the title character, rather than the larger cast of heroes in the DC Extended Universe, or Worlds of DC.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The titans have returned. They’re here to prevent irreparable damage to Earth — but may also cause humanity's extinction. In this sequel to the 2014 Godzilla, Godzilla the mighty lizard will clash with Mothra, Rodan, and the many-headed monster King Ghidorah.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will premiere on May 31, 2019, and will be the 35th film in the Godzilla franchise. It stars Vera Farmiga as Emma, a paleobiologist at the cryptozoological organization Monarch, who seems to unwittingly unleash chaos when she attempts to harness the monsters' power for conservation efforts. Millie Bobby Brown, who you might recognize from her starring role in Stranger Things, plays Emma's daughter Madison.

Nightflyers

From the mind of George R.R. Martin comes another terrifyingly beautiful show. Syfy's newest series, Nightflyers, is based on Martin's novella of the same name. He described the horror story as "Psycho in space" — so in other words, like Game of Thrones, this is definitely not a show for the faint of heart.

The 10-episode series will follow the crew of a spaceship as they search for a mythical alien race. Their ship, the Nightflyer, is the most advanced in history, but can’t protect them from the horror they discover in outer space. When their technology begins to fail and crew members start dying, it becomes clear that the mysterious forces they were searching for are already on board.

Shazam!

Another DC superhero film, Shazam! is the story of Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan. Billy is about to move into yet another foster home when he is suddenly transported to an alternate universe. In this other realm, he meets an ancient wizard who grants him a special power.

Billy is given the ability to transform himself into an adult superhero. All it takes is the magic word: “shazam.” Set to premiere on April 5, 2019, Shazam! stars Chuck's Zachary Levi as the titular hero, and is bound to thrill audiences with its creative storyline and wicked sense of humor.
