There. A whole set of tweets written just before bed and set to go out when I'm fast asleep. I'm vaguely worried that I've mistimed them, but too late now. Here are the first seven members of the #Sandman cast to be announced officially. Seven down, hundreds to go. pic.twitter.com/DksGLyMkBf

These seven leads, along with other yet-to-be-revealed cast members, will be the first to bring Gaiman's Sandman comic to screens. Though there have long been designs to create an adaptation for the most popular title under DC's Vertigo Imprint, various plans have come and gone.
The first season of Netflix's series will cover Preludes & Nocturnes and The Doll’s House, the first two volumes of Gaiman's comic.

The dark and imaginative comic follows Dream, one of seven Endless. While in captivity Dream contemplates the wrongs of his long existence, setting out to right them once he is free. Winding together mythology, fantasy, and a host of abstract characters, Sandman tells an expansive and alluring tale.
The series will be executive produced by Gaiman and David Goyer, who is known for other comic adaptations, including Batman and Superman movies. Allan Heinberg will be the series showrunner.
With the beginnings of a very talented cast, Sandman is shaping up to be must-see viewing!
