Dune features Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, as a young man with an epic destiny. The trailer is a melange (pun fully intended) of hushed prophecies and foreboding interactions, dangerous tests, and fiery battles. With his future, his family, and all of humanity in the balance, Paul must prove himself where other Atreides have failed.

The trailer concludes with a scene showing Arrakis sand slipping through his fingers, demonstrating that Paul must conquer his fear, and do so before it is too late.

The production is helmed by director Denis Villeneuve, who is known for sci-fi films like Arrival and Blade Runner 2049

Although this is not the first time Dune has been adapted for the big screen, Villeneuve intends to create his own fresh take on the classic novel. The director has said that this adaptation will expand the role of female characters, and draw parallels between the exploitation of resources on Arrakis to that on earth.

With stellar effects, a blockbuster cast, and a modern perspective, Dune is shaping up to be a must-see movie. Dune is currently scheduled to worm its way into your heart on December 18th, 2020.
