Aries (March 21-April 19)
Max Mayfield

The sign of the Ram doesn't shy away from conflict. In fact, these fire signs charge in with guns blazing.
Is it courage that makes them stand tall, or a bubbling aggression that sits constantly just beneath the surface? It's both!
Max Mayfield is the perfect example of an Aries if there ever was one. Armed with this sign's classic short temper, she also possesses their determination, passion, and sometimes harsh honesty.
And with her sick skateboard skills, she's also got the physical prowess known to Aries.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Lucas Sinclair

Those born under the sign of Taurus are most notably known for being stubborn—they are the sign of the Bull, after all. But there's so much more nuance to this earth sign.
Tauruses are the most devoted of all the zodiac signs, and when something is important to them, they will wait for it, no matter how long it takes. That's the patience of a saint—and of Lucas Sinclair, who parked by Max's hospital bed for months on end.
These individuals are known for being a reliable and stable force. They're the true ride or dies of the zodiac.
And with their appreciation for a spot of romance, it's no wonder Lucas's relationship is one of the few that had a happy ending in this series.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Jonathan Byers

Gemini, also known as the sign of the Twins, is a sign known for its dual nature. As is typical for air signs, these individuals can be a bit tricky to pin down.
Jonathan Byers is a wonderful example of the indecisiveness at the core of most Geminis. On one hand, they can be very affectionate and loving, but the next second they may feel trapped and confined by routine.
The adaptable nature of Gemini means that they're always eager to explore something new, if only to be sure they've experienced everything that's out there.
And, like Jonathan, they have a soft spot for music.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Eddie Munson

Cancers come off as edgy, but they really have soft, sensitive centers—just like the Crab that represents them.
Like a typical water sign, Cancers are exceedingly imaginative individuals, which brings to mind a certain Dungeon Master. Eddie Munson also happens to be as moody and anti-social as Cancers have a reputation for being.
But just because Cancers don't like strangers doesn't mean they aren't fiercely loyal to their friends. They would do anything for the ones they care about, stretching their already tenacious behavior to its limits.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Dustin Henderson

A Leo is a singular creature, no matter how many people are born under the same sign. Also known as the sign of the Lion, each of them want to be the king (or queen) of their own jungle.
As a fire sign, Leos approach everything they do with a great amount of passion, much like Dustin does throughout most of the series, be it D&D, science class, or fighting actual monsters.
While they love to have fun with their friends, there's nothing they love more than being the center of attention. At their worst moments, this can make them come off as arrogant and self-centered.
But these individuals have a good heart, and, like Dustin, you can be sure they're always going to make you laugh.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Nancy Wheeler

If Nancy Wheeler ain't a Virgo, then I don't know who is.
Virgos are represent by the Virgin or the Maiden, which really means they're basically the mothers of the zodiac. They don't ask for help and they don't need to—they'll figure out how do do anything themselves eventually.
As an earth sign, Virgos are very, well, grounded. They have a practical approach to things and have a very analytical way of thinking. It's a great recipe for an aspiring journalist.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Steve Harrington

The sign of Libra, also known as the sign of the Scales, is all about balance. These individuals are big team players—sometimes to a fault, avoiding necessary confrontations.
As an air sign, however, they're still a bit flighty. These social butterflies really like connection, though those connections may be brief and many…
Like our favorite babysitter Steve Harrington, Libras want to do the right thing, and they're very generous with their efforts. However, when things don't go their way, they're inclined to self-pity.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Jane “Eleven” Hopper

Scorpios truly are a force to be reckoned with—for better and for worse.
The creativity that goes hand in hand with being a water sign presents itself in Scorpios as resourcefulness. Combined with their bold bravery, there is no tough spot they can't find a way out of.
But, with as powerful as these individuals can be, they can also have moments of emotional weakness that result in bursts of violence. They are wonderful friends, but their devotion leads them to unbearable jealousy at times.
Like our favorite tragic heroine, Scorpios have a fondness and insistence upon the truth. Friends don't lie, after all.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Robin Buckley

Sagittarius is a fire sign represented by the Archer. They are full of life and energy—so much so that sometimes they can leave people feeling burned.
This sign isn't afraid to say exactly what they're thinking, no matter how strange or off-putting it may be. They have big ideas that they aren't always equipped to follow through on.
And like oddball Robin, they approach life with a great sense of humor.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Joyce Byers

Given that for much of the series most people think that Joyce is mentally unstable, it might seem odd to compare her to an earth sign like Capricorn. But just because nobody else knows that she's right doesn't mean she isn't!
This sign of the Sea Goat tends to be ahead of the curve when it comes to knowledge, and they use it to get all of their ducks in a row. They're great managers, too, so they're also whipping your ducks into shape.
They are ready to face any situation, largely because at all times they're expecting the worst outcome.
And, like Joyce, they find family to be more important than anything else.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Mike Wheeler

Like fellow air signs, those born under the sign of Aquarius are a mixed bag of contradictions.
While this sign of the Water Bearer holds great value in spending time with friends, they also often come off as aloof and distant. It's not that they don't care, it's just that they're incredibly independent people who shy away from emotional vulnerability.
In fact, Aquarians care so much about so many things that they're often the first in line to fight for a cause.
While Mike has put himself in some tricky situations in his relationships because of his inability to come right out and say exactly what he means, he's always pushing to make things better for those around him.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Will Byers

Sweet, soft little Will Byers. Even if his growth spurt saw him double in size, many of us still see him as that tiny boy that got lost in the Upside Down.
There's no one more fit for a comparison to Pisces than him. After all, this water sign is lauded for their wisdom, and he's Will the Wise.
The sign of the Fish is the most artistic of the zodiac. They also possess the most intuition out of all the signs, sometimes crossing over into the territory of a sixth sense.
Unfortunately, their focus on compassion and love makes them overly trusting. Their open hearts and sensitive souls tend to put them in situations where they become victimized by cruelty.
