The release of Netflix’s screen adaptation of the critically-acclaimed Sandman graphic novels has been much anticipated since the first teaser was released in September. Now, Netflix has unveiled the series' release date—August 5th—a new teaser, and some surprising casting. Take a look at the new The Sandman trailer below!
The Netflix series stars Tom Sturridge, Vivienne Acheampong, Jenna Coleman, Gwendoline Christie, and others. Netflix has also announced that Star Wars' Mark Hamill will voice the character Merv Pumpkinhead.
The foreboding minute-long trailer depicts the show’s dark tone, revealing more about Morpheus’ character and implying a twistingly tense plot with a “rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven.”
Neil Gaiman serves as executive producer of this 10-episode series alongside Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer. The series comes in the wake of years of potential for a Sandman screen adaptation, as Gaiman was first presented with the option of a film adaptation in 1991.
