This 2018 sci-fi horror trip from Ex Machina director Alex Garland is an adaptation of the first novel in Jeffrey VanderMeer's incredible Southern Reach trilogy. Lena (Natalie Portman) previously explored The Shimmer, which is known for mutated organic life. Her first mission ended disastrously, with Lena's husband (Oscar Isaac) close to death after a baffling disappearance. Lena's return mission will be no less fraught with psychedelic body horror and psychological manipulation from within The Shimmer.
